Michael Higgins, Principal/Director MHBD

Mike began his career in December 1988, in Queenscliff, working with highly respected Architect - Bill Reynolds. Working in Bill’s office for 15 years, Mike primarily focused on residential design projects & aged hostel facilities. In 2003, Mike embarked on his own journey, departing Queenscliff, with Bills’ blessing and the MHBD office was formed. With nearly 30 years industry experience under his belt, Mike is able to offer clients a total package for any type of design project they might wish to undertake whether it be a residential, commercial or industrial project, a new build or renovations to existing. He is a talented and accomplished designer, with a distinctive and identifiable style to his work. As an Ocean Grove resident for over 34 years, Mike finds living and working in the area he operates in, provides a sound understanding of the local processes & real estate market trends.

Chris Taft, Architectural Draftsman/Contract Administration

Chris has been an integral component of the MHBD team since its inception in 2003. Drawing on his 16 years of industry experience, Chris offers clients and consultants, his wide range of knowledge and skills. His previous work experience includes working with a large residential building & design company, along with other design firms in the region. Chris is responsible for the successful project management and contract administration of multiple projects, in the MHBD office, over a range of both residential and commercial developments. His professional approach to detail and the accuracy of drawing, ensures the high quality of the documentation produced. Chris also teaches AutoCAD at the Gordon Tafe, which demonstrates his expertise in using the program.


Marcus Wirth, Architectural Draftsman

Marcus joined the MHBD team in 2006 after completing his studies and emerging with excellent results. Now in his 10th year with MHBD, Marcus is a key member of the team, providing a wealth of skills and experience in both residential and commercial projects. Marcus is proficient in all areas of drafting documentation, including concept / sketch plans, town planning and working drawings. He has an excellent understanding of the requirements of the building code, and as a long time resident of Ocean Grove, he has an association with local industry professionals and a good understanding of the local environment.

Jodi Keogh, Architectural Draftsman

Jodi is the newest member of the MHBD team, coming on board in 2016. She returns to the coast, and the custom design projects that MHBD are renowned for, after 13 years spending time working in various other industry roles, including teaching the Advanced Diploma of Building Design and Project Administration, at the Gordon Tafe. Most recently working in design and production drafting for a medium sized residential building and design company, her skills are many and varied. Jodi is committed to getting the best design solutions for every client and has a passion for environmentally sustainable design.


Keren Brooks, Administration Manager

Keren continues to provide the administrative backbone to support the behind the scenes functioning of the MHBD office. This role incorporates administration, BAS statements, banking, tax management, wages, reconciliations, & all of the essential but necessary roles in ensuring that the MHBD organization remains operational.
